The Clutter Breakthrough

Your 5 Step Solution to Freedom from Clutter Forever

The Clutter Breakthrough BookThis book has been an amazing learning and growing journey for me. Like many people, I used to tell myself, someday I’m going to write a book. I’ve had the idea for The Clutter Breakthrough for a while and it has been chattering away in my head but I somehow couldn’t get it onto paper.

In August of 2009 I was in Dallas at the eWomen Network International Conference, an inspiring and thought provoking 4-day power conference for women entrepreneurs.

While relaxing with my girlfriends one evening after a fabulous day of meetings and events I popped up with this crazy claim to write this book.

Something possessed my brain and before I could get the words back into my head, it was done… The minute it left my mouth I knew I had to do it, I had said it aloud.

Sacramento Author Kelli WilsonI shared the idea with my business coach at the conference and with her help to unstick the stuck I was on my way. I wrote everywhere, sometimes into my computer, sometimes into my journal but I wrote and wrote.

Sometimes the cat, Kitty, what else would we name her, would write with me. Ok, let’s be real, she slept, I wrote. This is the glamorous life of an author’s cat.

The truth is this book has been divinely inspired through me for you. My wish is that you find your answers within its covers and that your sense of peace is restored through doing the suggested steps.

To your clutter breakthrough,

Kelli Wilson

Clutter Breakthrough Book Testimonials

“Kelli has hit the nail on the head w/this fabulous new book. She helps us search deep into our hearts,(conscious, unconscious and subconscious mind) to see what the truth is re: the fears and false beliefs that have long been buried.

I highly recommend this book no matter what stage of life we are at to free ourselves from the “baggage” we have so long carried needlessly.” Pat G.

The Clutter Breakthrough – Excerpt 1

Within each of us exists a space that, if not naturally filled with good, nurturing self acceptance, tends to get filled with something else. The problem with filling it or attempting to fill it, with something else is the insatiable nature of the space.

Some people attempt to fill it with drugs or alcohol; some people fill it with food and others still with romantic relationships. Then there are those who attempt to fill this space with things. Call it what you like; retail therapy, a great sale, inheritance, valuable memorabilia, when taken to the extreme or done without real consciousness it is an issue if your life is unmanageable.

The symptom is clutter and disorganization, the underlying issue is the unfillable space, the overall effect is unmanageability. This overall effect is just that, overall. It affects every area of your life from the cluttered junk drawer to sleep habits to relationships.

The solution, this solution; the clutter breakthrough, takes us inside.

The Clutter Breakthrough – Excerpt 2
The Truth About The Stuff

Before we delve into the concepts and activities in this book let’s talk for a minute about the truth about clutter and disorganization.

The truth about clutter and disorganization is that it’s almost never about the stuff. Clutter in the case of the “collector”, the “might need it later”, the “it was a gift from family so I have to keep it”; the “I love it and can’t do without it” or “it’s not mine” is where this book works.

If you find yourself in any of the statements above or you are willing to consider finding yourself in the statements above then you are on your way. This book is not for the person who needs it, there are millions and millions of people who are using stuff to try to feel better. This book is for the person who wants it and is willing or at least willing to be willing and apply slight persistent effort to recover from the effects of clutter and disorganization.

The truth is, these statements are the things we tell ourselves to keep from looking at what’s really behind the clutter and disorganization. Is it true that you might need something later? Absolutely. Is it true that you could have a gift from family that you want to keep? Certainly. Is it true that the clutter can belong to someone else? Sure.

These are all possible truths; the determining factor is the effect stuff is having on your life. If you might need it later and it lives within your means then perhaps it’s not an issue, if it is a few manageable items from the family, OK. A garage, spare room and a back patio full of stuff, overwhelming or defeated feelings, unmanageable life, then we need to have a different conversation.

Here are a few questions to consider that can provoke some thought. You may be fully convinced you have an issue and you may already know it’s deeper than the stuff. For those of you still not convinced …check all of these that apply:

  • Do you sleep somewhere else other than your bed due to clutter?
  • Do you consistently pay late fees because you don’t have a mail and bill pay sytem that works?
  • Do you consistently run late because of the last minute hunt for what you need to get out the door?
  • Do you avoid having family and friends over due to the clutter in your home?
  • Do you have to move things in order to sit down in your living room or kitchen table?
  • Do your children miss out on having friends over or sleep over due to clutter?
  • Do you park outside because the garage is full of stuff?
  • Are you financially affected due to over buying, late fees or mismanaged bills?

Each of these questions individually are indications that there is a greater issue here. This is only a sampling of the list of symptoms that demonstrate how our external environment reflects our internal environment.
